I love New Year’s Eve! It is a time of reflection and a time of anticipation for the coming year. This past year has been amazing. We rang in 2013 basking in the warmth of South Florida at a dear friend’s wedding. The year continued with many changes. I reduced my hours at work, realized my son had sensory issues and we adjusted his diet and lastly we witnessed my daughter growing into a young lady.
It also had its share of heartbreak. Our beloved yellow lab passed away and we struggled with some longstanding illnesses that we were eventually able to address with natural remedies. (More about that in a future post.)
We go into 2014 with a contract on a new house. This means packing up all our belongings, putting our current home on the market and then moving a whole four blocks! But I have been yearning to simplify our home and finances and this will allow us to do both.
As for the kids, I have seen my daughter take on adventures that I never knew she had the gumption to do! My son is becoming much more verbal and a softer side is beginning to come out.
One of our New Year’s traditions is capturing a few thoughts from the kids about the past year and what they are looking forward to accomplishing in the coming year. It will be fun to take a look at the growth and maturity of their answers as they get older.
So you can do the same, we created a simple printable with a list questions that you can do with your kids. Print it out and tonight or tomorrow morning take moment to run through the list with your loves. And if you have time share some of your kiddos’ answers. What were the highs and lows of 2013? What adventures do they want to have in the New Year? How do they plan on being generous?
From my family to yours – have a very Happy New Year!!!
